Agricultural Tractor Disc brake

Based on the structure of the fixed elements in the friction pair, disc brakes can be divided into two main categories: full disc and caliper disc. Based on their characteristics, they can also be divided into automatic booster type and non-automatic booster type.
In a full-disc brake, both the rotating and stationary elements of the friction pair are discs, and all friction surfaces of the discs are in contact during braking. Widely used in tractors are automatic booster disc brakes (Figure 7.3-7a), automatic booster wet disc brakes (Figure 7.3-7b), and full-disc brakes without automatic booster (Figure 7.3-8). These types of full-disc brakes share common characteristics such as compact structure, uniform wear, good heat dissipation, easy sealing, braking torque unaffected by the direction of rotation, and no radial force on the brake shaft. Automatic booster disc brakes, like automatic booster shoe brakes, have the highest braking coefficient, significantly reducing operating force, but their resistance to heat fade and braking smoothness deteriorate. Using automatic booster wet disc brakes or full-disc brakes without automatic booster can overcome these drawbacks to varying degrees. The braking coefficient of a full-disc brake without automatic force boosting is linearly related to the coefficient of friction (Figure 7.3-13), thus exhibiting stable sensitivity, the best resistance to heat fade, and the smoothest braking performance. The problem of increased operating force due to a low braking coefficient is often solved by hydraulic power assist or dynamic braking.
