A rotary tiller is a type of soil tillage machinery that uses rotating blades as its working parts. It is also called a rotary tiller. Based on the configuration of its rotary blade shaft, it is divided into two categories: horizontal shaft type and vertical shaft type. Horizontal shaft rotary tillers, with the blade shaft positioned horizontally, are more commonly used. They have strong soil-breaking capabilities, finely breaking up the soil in one pass, evenly mixing soil and fertilizer, and leveling the ground, meeting the requirements for dryland sowing or paddy field transplanting. This helps to save time in farming, improve efficiency, and fully utilize the power of the tractor. However, they have poor ability to cover stubble and weeds, and the tillage depth is relatively shallow (12-16 cm for dryland tillage; 14-18 cm for paddy field tillage), resulting in higher energy consumption. They are mainly used in paddy fields and vegetable gardens, and also for orchard cultivation. Heavy-duty horizontal shaft rotary tillers can till to a depth of 20-25 cm and are mostly used for clearing shrublands, marshes, and grasslands.
