The data shows that the Chinese tractor market operated smoothly in 2010, exhibiting several new characteristics. Total industrial output and sales revenue reached 34.813 billion yuan and 40.023 billion yuan respectively. Meanwhile, export delivery value continued its strong growth momentum, and domestic demand for large and medium-sized tractors remained high, although the growth rate slowed, with demand continuing to extend towards higher horsepower models; the small tractor market continued its double-digit growth.
On the other hand, demand was uneven across different regional markets, brand competition intensified, and market concentration further increased. However, compared with developed agricultural countries and regions such as Europe and the United States, demand was far from saturated. Furthermore, outdated product structure and performance were common problems in my country's tractor products, and technological levels needed improvement; at the same time, chaotic market order and disorderly competition among enterprises led to quality problems, revealing that the quality of my country's tractor products still needed to be improved.
From the perspective of the national agricultural mechanization development strategy, my country's agricultural mechanization development is currently in the intermediate stage, with the comprehensive mechanization level of planting, cultivating, and harvesting just exceeding 50%. According to the "Opinions of the State Council on Accelerating the Sound and Rapid Development of Agricultural Mechanization and the Agricultural Machinery Industry," by 2020, the comprehensive mechanization rate of crop planting, cultivating, and harvesting in my country should reach over 65%. In other words, the current development of my country's agricultural machinery industry still lags significantly behind the requirements of the national agricultural mechanization development strategy. As the power source for agricultural machinery, tractors still have a large market demand.
