Centrifugal water pumps are devices used to transport water or other liquids. They are highly efficient, can be directly connected to a high-speed motor, have a simple structure, are lightweight, and are easy to adjust. They are widely used in industrial and agricultural production and daily life.
Centrifugal water pumps may experience various malfunctions during operation. The possible causes and solutions for these malfunctions are described below.
I. Pump Does Not Discharge Water Upon Startup
1. Not filled with water or not fully filled before startup. Stop the pump and refill with water.
2. Suction head is too high. Lower the suction head to no more than 6 meters.
3. Air leaks or air bubbles in the suction pipe. Check the suction pipe and eliminate the leak.
4. Clogged tap. Clean the tap.
5. Rotation speed is too low. Check the power supply.
II. Pump Discharge is Very Small After Startup
1. 1. Impeller inlet blocked by debris; impeller damaged or blocked; check the first stage of the pump, clean the debris or replace the impeller.
2. Faucet partially blocked; check and clean.
3. Suction pipe joint not tight; check joint alignment, tighten or replace gasket.
4. Impeller ribs worn, mouth ring seal worn excessively; check and confirm, replace mouth ring seal.
5. Air leak in the feed tank; replace feed tank.
III. Sudden water drop from the faucet
1. Faucet protrudes above water; stop pump.
2. Faucet blocked; stop pump and clean.
IV. Excessive motor current
1. Drain gate not fully closed during startup; be careful during startup.
2. Balance ring plate tilted too much or parts stuck; check internally and repair any abnormal parts.
3. 4. The rotating part is not adjusted correctly, causing excessive movement in the water intake direction, resulting in the impeller pressing against the inlet ring; first push the impeller rotor to the top of the inlet side, and check according to the markings.
5. The impeller is not properly engaged or the rubber ring is too tight; align it.
6. Excessive leakage from the waste water pipe, resulting in high-pressure water leakage.
1. The gap between the balance disc tail sleeve and the water jacket is widened; check and fix, replace one part if necessary.
2. The rubber balance ring is improperly assembled, not pressed down by the bracket or tightening ring, and no rubber rope is added under the tightening ring; remove the bracket and reassemble the balance ring.
7. Pump vibration during operation.
1. The pump and motor are not aligned; check and adjust.
2. The water pipe is not properly fixed; check and adjust.
3. The bracket bearing clearance is too large; check and adjust.
4. The shaft is bent; repair and replace the shaft.
5. The impeller or balance disc is misaligned; repair.
6. VII. Loose Anchor Bolts, Insecure Foundation; Tighten anchor bolts or investigate and resolve foundation issues.
VII. Bearing Overheating
1. Unclean or insufficient oil; Clean bearings, change or add oil.
2. Oil ring not rotating or not rotating smoothly; Inspect and repair.
3. Insufficient bearing clearance; Adjust appropriately (add shims or scrape the bearing).
VIII. Overheating Balancing Plate
The balan is too tight or not soaked in oil; Readjust or replace.
IX. Overheating Balance Plate
The waste water pipe is too dirty or the valve on the pipe is not open; Clean or open the valve.
X. Overheating Pump Casing
The pump has been operating for too long with the gate closed or no water; Stop the pump to cool it down, and be careful when restarting.
Additionally, motor malfunctions may occur during pump operation, which will not be discussed here.
