How to Change a Tire on an Agricultural Tractor Using a Clever Method

When driving an agricultural tractor, situations such as flat tires, punctures, or blowouts are inevitable. How can you quickly change to a spare tire?

The following methods will allow you to change a tire quickly and efficiently.

Remember the rotation direction of the wheel bolts. Generally, the nuts on the right wheel are right-hand threads (positive threads), and the nuts on the left wheel are left-hand threads (negative threads). Therefore, when loosening the left wheel nut, apply force clockwise, and when tightening, apply force counterclockwise.

Use a diagonal, crisscrossing, or 3 or 4-step tightening method to turn the nuts, preventing wheel disc deformation and concentrating force on individual wheel bolts.

When disassembling, first loosen the wheel nut with a socket wrench, but do not remove it immediately. Then, use a jack to lift the axle until the tire is slightly off the ground, then loosen the nut and remove the wheel.

When installing, first apply lithium-based or calcium-based grease to the threads to reduce the possibility of stripping. When lifting or lowering a wheel, align it with the bolt holes to avoid damaging the bolt threads. When tightening the nuts, first hand-tighten them, then use a special wrench until they loosen under the wheel. Release the jack, lower the wheel to the ground, and then tighten the nuts on each wheel in a crisscross pattern with a torque of 200-400 Nm.

When installing the tire assembly, align the tire valves with the bevel of the brake drum.

For dual-tire rear wheels, note the following:

If the two tires have different wear levels, install the one with the larger diameter and less wear on the outer wheel to accommodate driving on cambered surfaces.

If only the outer tire is being replaced, tighten the inner nut of the inner wheel first, then install the outer wheel.

When replacing both tires simultaneously, use a jack to lift the wheel in two stages, installing the inner and outer tires separately.

The brake clearance inspection holes on the two wheels should be staggered.

The valves on the inner and outer tires should be symmetrically arranged to facilitate checking and adjusting the inner tube pressure.
